One small studio. How a drawing or a photograph is traced, cut and polished into a necklace, and what to know before you order one.

A printed charm fades. Ours is not a print: the drawing is traced into one outline and cut from solid stainless steel, every line a bar of metal with its edges polished round, so it catches the light the way the pen caught the paper. Hold it up and the drawing is there in the gaps.

A photo necklace is cut to the outline of the pet or the person, and the photograph is etched into the metal itself, so it cannot wear off.

Shipping: Cut and packed in our studio in its own gift box, and tracked end to end. It reaches most addresses in three to five weeks. The estimate for yours is shown before you pay.

Before you buy: Made for one person, so it is not returnable. Ask us anything before you buy and we will answer properly, usually the same day. The approved design is what we cut.

Wearing & care: Stainless steel needs very little care. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth now and then, and take it off before swimming in a pool or the sea.

## Questions

What makes a good drawing to send?: One drawing on its own, photographed flat in daylight with the whole thing in the frame. Crayon, marker, pencil and pen all work; the lines become the metal, so a drawing with clear outlines cuts best. Shading and colour fill are left out. For a photo necklace, send one pet or one person roughly facing the camera, with their eyes visible.

What is it made of?: Every Linnory necklace, the pendant and the chain, is made of stainless steel, in silver tone or gold tone. It's drawn from your photo or your child's drawing, with their name.

Which length should I pick?: A drawing necklace comes in 16, 18, 20, 22 or 24 inches. The 16 sits at the collarbone on a child or a small neck; the 18 is the everyday length for most adults; the longer ones fall onto the chest. A photo necklace comes on an 18 inch chain.

Can I add a name?: Yes. Type up to 20 characters under your picture, a name or a date or a short word, and it is worked into the design. If it comes back with something you did not ask for, change it and draw it again. It stays free until you approve one.

Can I send it as a gift?: Yes, and most of what we make leaves as one. Put their address at checkout and it goes straight to them in its gift box. For Christmas, order by 23 November.
